My Favorite Foundations

Raise your virtual hand if you've been that girl at Target looking through shelves and shelves of foundations. Looking for your favorite keywords like, mattifying, full coverage, SPF 15, or my favorite, blurring effect! I think we have all been there at one point or another. It's easier when you pop into Sephora or Ulta, one of the beautynistas (did I just make this up?) will absolutely guide you on your hunt for flawless looking skin. But in the event that you have trust issues, i.e. feeling like the sales person is pushing you towards the most expensive item on the shelf, I am here to offer my three favorite foundations.

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation

Y'all! I have been using this foundation for over two years. When I tell you it's everything, I literally mean it's EVERYTHING! The coverage is impeccable. It lasts throughout the work day, though I am not necessarily buying the 24hr claim. The color matching works flawlessly for me, but I have seen other WOC express disappointment in the lack of range. My favorite feature of this foundation is the price! Target has it listed now for $9.39. I promise you, this foundation could stack up against the higher end counter foundations with the right application. I love that it's buildable and comes in two different formulas--normal/dry & combination/oily.

I strongly believe that MAC is a staple in any beauty lovers makeup bag. Back in the day I exclusively used MAC. It was the standard, even if I only used the clear lip glass, smh. That was before I did a stint at Sephora inside JCP and my eyes were open to so many other brands that did make up well, sometimes better than MAC (gasp!) Over the years though we have those items we always go back to. Cork lip pencil I am thinking about you, boo! Another staple to consider adding is the MAC Studio Fix Fluid. The coverage is amazing and buildable. It can last throughout an outdoor festival in steamy in North Carolina. I always love when a foundation includes an SPF. It's middle of the road by way of cost at $30, but it will last you at least 6-8 months with moderate use. Some people use it as their everyday foundation, but I tend to use it for dressier occassions, i.e. church!

Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Longwear SPF 15

Yasss! This foundation gives me life! I am a newer user of Lancôme products. Prior to buying this foundation I used a fair amount of their skincare offerings, but never considered their makeup. I stumbled upon this gem at Ulta and wow wow WOW! The full coverage is unmatched. It is so light. I put a nickel-size of product on the back of my hand and that's it. I am covering my entire face! I wore this foundation for an outdoor photo shoot. It was easily 87 degrees and humid in NC that day. The sun was bright and I was sweating...A LOT. By the end of the shoot I expected to have little to no makeup on, but to my surprise my face still looked in tact. I knew then, I had a winner. This foundation is the most expensive ($47) of all the products I am recommending, but it will be well worth your money. I use it sparingly, but it's light enough for daily wear.
